Don’t Just Attend Open Streets Boise - Co-Create It!
Open Streets Boise is back! Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 28th, from 12–5 PM on W Ustick Rd in the Winstead Park neighborhood.
For one afternoon, we're transforming the street into a car-free community space filled with music, food, community, and connection. We want you to help us co-create it by bringing your own fun and joining this year’s bike bus!
Bring Your Own Fun
Open Streets Boise is a stage for creativity, play, and movement - and it’s up to you to make the day your own. Here are just a few ideas to participate:
Bring a funky or crazy bicycle or transportation setup
Chalk your own street mural
Busk or perform music with your guitar, drums, or voice (we’ll have a busking zone open to the public)
Juggle, hula hoop, or show off your circus skills
Bring a picnic blanket or lawn chair and relax with friends (seating on the street is limited, so bring your own collapsible chair for when it’s time to relax!)
Start a small yoga session with friends in the street
Plan a morning run, walk, or bike ride along the route
This is your space to be creative and active. The more imagination and energy you bring, the more alive the street will be!
Ride in a Bike Bus
If you’re planning on riding to the event, you can consider riding to it in a bike bus… what’s a bike bus?
A bike bus is a coordinated ride where folks can meet up, ride safely together as a group, and have fun getting where they're headed. Decorate your bike, dress up, and join your fellow riders as they ride together into Open Streets Boise. There will be several routes and meetup locations across Boise, with varied lengths and street exposure. Routes will be announced closer to the event in mid-September.
Food + Fun
Refuel with flavors from Indo-Malay, Bochi Bochi Japanese Eats, A3 Caribbean Catering, and sweet treats from Sunset Softserve, Kona Ice, and more.
Here are a few more fun activities to look forward to:
ZOOKFEST: zucchini races with the WB Neighborhood Association
Mobile skate rink with Skate Revival
Friendship bracelets with Faces of Hope
Multicultural street performances by Global Lounge
Pedal-powered music stage from Tropico FM
Local musicians busking and performing
A bike rodeo with Safe Routes to School
Funky bike races hosted by The Handlebar
A larger run of show will be shared the week of September 21st.
Connect at Welcoming Week Family Field Day
Open Streets Boise coincides with Welcoming Week Family Field Day, hosted by the YMCA and the Idaho Office for Refugees, right off Ustick Rd at Mountain View Park (12–5 PM). Stop by to meet newly arrived neighbors, enjoy live entertainment, and celebrate Boise’s diverse community.
📅 Save the date: Sunday, September 28, 12–5 PM, W Ustick Rd.
We can’t wait to see what YOU bring to the street!
