I grew up in Northern California, chasing my family along trails and rivers. I was fortunate to live close enough to my elementary school that I could ride to school, and on a lucky day, get ice cream on the way home.

I entered high school facing serious medical challenges, and three years trying to catch up academically and socially. The start of my senior year, I decided on a fresh path popular at my new school: mountain biking with the Sir Francis Drake Pirates. I had not ridden a bike since my mom banned me from riding to school in the rain as a middle schooler, but the coaches and other kids seemed friendly, so I signed up. I quickly learned that the Pirates offered support, camaraderie, adventure, and mutual respect independent of gender, age, background, and mountain biking experience. And much to my mom’s demise, I rode my mountain bike in the rain a LOT that year.

That fateful year on the school’s team led me to major in Recreation, Parks and Tourism at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo where I also raced for the school’s triathlon team and worked at a bike shop. After college, I had an opportunity to help coach an NCAA D1 women’s triathlon team in New York City, but knew the mountains were calling. Idaho became home for four years as I worked for the City of Ketchum and washed more fire trucks than I could have dreamt of. After a brief stint (363 days, to be exact) in Oregon to work for Southern Oregon University, we came back home to Idaho and I landed this position at BBP. I am stoked to join the team and get more people on bikes!
