New Kids on the Block: Meet the newest members of Team BBP

It's been an exciting few weeks at BBP, as we've welcomed 4 newcomers to our team! Please join me in celebrating Veda, Roxy, Maureen, and Dan. (At the time of newsletter publication, I hadn’t had a chance to snap a pic of Roxy yet. Don’t worry… I’ll get one here soon!)

Veda and Roxy joined the team back on July 1. Since we knew Dan and Maureen were coming our way in August, we decided to wait to make a formal announcement.

You might remember Veda from our Idaho Gives Campaign back in May. Veda is currently supporting Youth Programming and will continue to build his mechanic skills to eventually work on the shop floor as a mechanic. Veda radiates goodness. Having received BBP bikes himself, he really knows how to make an impact on our youth programming.

Roxy joined the team as a facilitator and is supporting the guest and member shopping experience. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I really believe the facilitator role is the most challenging position at BBP. So many things to juggle all at once! Roxy’s definitely up for the challenge.

Maureen (Mo) and Dan joined us this week.

Mo is BBP’s Programs Director, which is a new position for BBP. Mo will lead all programming efforts and will work with BBP staff and volunteers to make the magic happen. Fun fact: Mo was an original BBP volunteer (from waaaay back when we were in the old Boise Rescue Mission). Mo worked for Bittercreek at the time and allowed BBP to sell our refurbished bikes from inside Bittercreek. It’s that kind of outside the box thinking that really excites me about Mo. I know there are big things to come!

And that leaves Dan…our Shifting Gears Coordinator! An official Shifting Gears position has been a long time coming, and the grant we received from Idaho Women’s Charitable Foundation is what made the role, and the program expansion, possible. Do you believe in Kismet? I do. Dan sent a general email inquiry about employment possibilities, not aware that the Shifting Gears position had recently been posted. We started chatting, and it turns out that he was the perfect candidate for the job. Dan is an educator at heart and is going to approach his position with curiosity, passion, empathy, and grit.

I’m taking a breath and thinking about the past 5 months. It feels like we’ve been living and working moment to moment, day by day. When I think about these 4 new team members, I think about POTENTIAL. We can now start to focus on the future and what we can create.

Interested in joining our team? We are hiring skilled bike mechanics. Share the job post or apply today!
