We've Got Class: an outline for Member's Nights in April

We just wrapped up our first class series for Friday Member’s Night in March. Throughout the month of March, we led a series focused on bike shop tools. With the switch from Wednesday nights back to Friday nights, as well as a new series format, we saw increased attendance and a much more energetic vibe at our shop on Friday nights. We’re excited to keep this ball rolling into the month of April. And in April, everybody is invited to attend these Member’s Nights, member or not. We’re doing this for two reasons:

  1. to give non-members a taste of one of the many benefits of being a BBP member; and

  2. to provide a cool, commuting-focused series leading up to Bike-A-Thon on Thursday, May 2.

Below is an outline of what to look forward to in April. All events are from 6:30 - 8:30 PM on Friday nights. All events are open to everybody!

April 5: Bikes of BBP - Staff Stories and Builds.

Did you know that one of the benefits of working at BBP is a bike build stipend once you’ve celebrated your one-year work anniversary? This promotes our staff creating custom rides from the frame up. Throughout the years, our team has created some pretty incredible rides. Several staff members will be sharing the stories of their rides: how they built them and where they’ve ridden them. Come prepared to listen to some sweet stories and ask questions. As a reminder, you are free to bring your own snacks and beverages to Member’s Nights. This would be a great event for a beer or two from Lost Grove, if that’s your thing. Snacks are great, too, especially when you bring some to share!

April 12: Built to Ride - Bike Fit and Building Your Right Bike

What determines frame size and fit? What are the elements of a bike frame? What are some easy fit techniques?

These are some of the questions that we’ll answer in this interactive class. Come ready to envision your dream ride!

April 19: Hit the Road - Advanced and Basic Commuting Techniques
A few weeks ago, you may have read N’s recap of the Smart Cycling class our team took. We all left feeling like better and smarter commuters. We want to share our knowledge and our love for commuting on two wheels. We’ll review Idaho traffic laws and teach you how to keep yourself--and others--safe while you ride.

April 26: Shift Happens: Foul Weather Riding and Emergency Bike Repair
What’s that United States Postal Creed? "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers..." We feel the same way about riding a bike! Nothing should hold you back from riding year round, and we’ll share how you can do it well! And with that in mind, bike trips are fun; but if you’re not prepared, they can be a disaster! We’ll teach you how to prepare to avoid disaster and what to do in case it strikes.
