Who We Are
"Who we are" cannot be defined by our board and staff, rather the community that has powered the journey from day 1. That community includes countless volunteers, members, supporters, program participants, local businesses, and nonprofit partners. Our board and staff are simply facilitators to activate that community and we are so proud to have that impactful opportunity.
BBP Staff
I pull Stanley (BBP's Shop Dog) to work on a Ross Minotaur with front and rear baskets. I found the frame in our scrap pile in 2013, and after four years of tinkering and dozens of stem-handlebar combos, I think I've finally got it where I want it. I makes me proud to be riding on a "Re-Made in the BBP" bicycle every day.
Born and raised by a dairy farm in Boise Idaho. I began working on bikes at age 10 and it eventually led to a Mass Communications degree from BSU, and a nonprofit called BBP.
In 2026, I might run for Mayor.
I ride my 6KU Malin 2 single speed around town.
I was born and raised in a southeastern Michigan suburb, relatively close to both Ann Arbor and Detroit. I have a BA in English (and lots of bartending experience) from a small liberal arts college. I headed south to Knoxville for graduate school at The University of Tennessee (MA in creative writing), and then began a career in corporate consulting that kept me busy traveling the country and Europe before I changed gears for a career in retail, which is where I've spent the past several years.
I am passionate about health and fitness in the outdoors, and I feel very fortunate to call Boise home. I think that breathing in fresh air—whether it’s while walking, hiking, running, or riding—is the best gateway to mindfulness; and commuting on my own two feet or two wheels is just about my favorite simple joy. I live here with my husband Chris and 10-year old rescue pup, Linus. Linus goes bananas for being off-leash in the foothills, so I spend a lot of my free time running around with him.
I feel personally connected to BBP’s mission and believe that we can make bikes appealing and accessible to every member of our community. My goals include publishing a book, improving my mountain biking skills, eventually rescuing another dog, and inspiring Boise bars and restaurants to eliminate use of plastic straws.
You’ll see me riding to BBP on my Trek 1000 that I’ve tried my darnedest to convert to a gravel grinder. My most prized possession, though, is my Trek Superfly, which of course, is purple.
I hail from New York by way of Colorado. I traveled west looking for adventure after graduating from Skidmore College. I launched my nonprofit career as an eager (unpaid) intern, eventually becoming the Events Coordinator for Bike Fort Collins, a nonprofit advocacy org. When the opportunity to work with BBP came across my path, I couldn’t say no. I packed up and drove northwestward.
My relationship with bikes began as a kid, but became a full on love affair in adulthood. I found that there’s no better way to form lasting friendships than by setting out on long, often grueling, sometimes bloody rides together. You learn how far you can push yourself, then your riding partners push you a tad further; and you’re happier for it (if not until you’re blissfully reminiscing over beers). I find a complete pleasure from riding my bike that I can’t find anywhere else, and I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to know the joy and satisfaction that comes from being pedal powered.
When I’m not shredding the dirt on two wheels, you may find me on the ski slopes, running the foothills trails, or lost among the shelves in a used book store.
I was born and reared in Hillsboro, North Dakota (eh?). After high school I attended Minnesota State University Moorhead where I earned a degree in Communication Arts and Literature Teacher Education, an English major’s way of saying English Education.
Before moving to Boise in July of 2015, my wife and I spent 3 years in Indianapolis. In NapTown I worked as a Site Director for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis. Aside from working at the Boys & Girls Club, I used my passion for working with youth and riding bikes as a volunteer at Freewheelin’ Community Bikes, a community focused bike shop dedicated to bringing out the best in people through the power of the bicycles. My time at Freewheelin’ reminded me of the freedom I experienced riding bikes as a child. Experiences that children who don’t have bikes won’t have. My goal as the Youth Education Specialist at BBP is to get as many kids on bikes as I can and to teach them the skills necessary to keep them riding and making memories.
If you see me putzing around town on my Re-made in the BBP 1996 Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo, feel free to holler at me and to join my putzing.
I ride an Univega Sport Tour, original BBP find from 2008, with a sassy baby kicking it in the Chariot. Faster mom! Faster!
Born and raised in Idaho, I tackled BSU twice, and left with a BA in Communication and BFA in Graphic Design. Jen-2, BSU-all my money. I have a wonderful husband (that almost always does the dishes), a basketball star teenager named Drea, a tiny little lady that runs the house named Finley and the cutest little boy you've ever seen named Nicholas.
My future goal is to help take BBP to the next level of greatness! Also, to climb the 9 Idaho peaks over 12,000 feet.
I am riding an All City Nature Boy single speed ultimate avocado commuter and trail bike.
Born and raised in Ontario, moved to Boise in 2005
Started cooking when I moved to Boise and have mastered making a mean steak, great vegan meals, and some other tasty treats. I play music locally and began volunteering at the BBP about four years ago and have been wrenching on bikes ever since.
My future goal is to earn certifications in metal fabrication, MIG and TIG welding, and attend Barnetts Bicycle Institute. Complete the Continental Divide trail before I'm 30.
I'm riding my baby Jamis Allegro 3.0
I was born and raise in Mexico City, moved to US in 2001, lived in Marin County for a little bit, jumped to McCall, landed in Boise where I have been happy forever after since 2006. Became American Citizen in 2008.
I have a degree in Architecture as well as a degree in Veterinary Technology. 100% environmental friendly and recyclable
My future goal is to continue loving, supporting and encouraging, everything and everybody to reach their dreams when having fun during the journey.
I get around on my tried and true Surly Cross Check, recently upgraded with a pearlescent fork and golden pedals. You may also spot me atop a resurrected Voodoo Sobo mountain bike, assembled solely with components found right here at the Bike Project.
Although I was born and raised in South King County, WA, I did spend a small portion of my childhood here in Boise, briefly attending Cole Elementary before it was flattened. Since then I've bounced around, living in the East Bay, Southeast Alaska, and Greenwater, WA, doing various odd jobs and meeting inspiring folks along the way.
Now, after obtaining my Bicycle Technician Certification at UBI's Portland campus, I'm here in Boise to promote and partake in our rich bicycling community and what better way to do that than to get involved at Boise's bonafide cycle hub.
I've met so many awesome people already here at 1027 Lusk, but if you're reading this and we haven't met yet, please introduce yourself next time you see me at the shop. I'm excited to get to know everyone and play my part in helping this organization to grow. Cheers!
I am riding a Raleigh C40 hybrid (my working bike). Just finished a xtra-cycle conversion.
I was born in St. Louis, MO and lived there for 50 years. All evidence indicates that I have not grown up. My wife and I moved to Boise in 2002.
I recently retired from my job as a computer programmer and intend to spend my time with various volunteer efforts and enjoying life. When I'm not biking in Boise, I enjoy hiking and climbing, kayaking, snowshoeing, alpine and downhill skiing.
Born & raised in Boise Potato Capitol USA!
After I graduated high school I worked with Americorps NCCC, spending 10 months roaming the US with 10 other weirdos being weird. We were camp counselors in Michigan, gutted flood damaged homes in Iowa and Indiana, worked with the National Special Olympic games in Nebraska, and rebuilt houses damaged by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
In 2012 I did a cross country bike tour with an organization called Bike and Build. The tour raised money and awareness of the affordable housing crisis in the US. We spent 16 days working on Habitat for Humanity houses, pedaled 4,200 miles, and ate a lot of peanut butter.
I have dreams of doing more bike touring, perhaps a self-supported tour one day when I am less afraid of crying in public.
I have a dog that I hope to see become the perfect adventure dog one day when she is magically trained.
I love learning skills and hope to become more competent in the art of healing my bike through reiki and maybe using a wrench sometimes.
Currently spending time with the Giant Avail 3 I toured on (she has a beautifully peeling coat of stickers), and the ultra-darling lavender Grocery-Mobile I built at BBP (tassels included). Both pair lovely with my butterfly helmet - try to spot me meandering through town!
Earned praised for my work importing action figures in Naples, FL. Spent several years merchandising puppets on the black market. Gifted in consulting about mountain bikes in Orlando, FL. Have some experience writing about wooden tops in Tampa, FL. Have a strong interest in licensing shifter brakes in Nigeria. My current pet project is investing in carnival rides in Ocean City, NJ.
I currently ride a 564 aluminum Schwinn and a Specialized Hard Rock. However, my goal is to ride something of my own creation someday.
I was born in Boise and grew up just outside of the city limits on a small ranch. I recently graduated from high school and plan to take some time off before starting college. While in college I hope to study Biomedical Engineering and Dance.
I absolutely love working on bikes! I got my passion for wrenching through the Boise Bicycle Project. I attended the apprenticeship program when I was 16 and ever since then I’ve been working to improve my skills. In the near future I would really love to attend a technical training program to farther increase my knowledge and abilities.
I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico – acquiring a love for breakfast burritos, roasted green chile, and bikes. I attended the University of New Mexico, earning a degree in environmental science. I had the opportunity to work on paleoclimate research as an undergrad, which was super fascinating. While attending UNM, I participated in an ill-fated attempt to revive the UNM cycling team that resulted in more lifelong friends than race victories. After meeting my wife in New Mexico, our family settled in Boise (my wife’s home town). Since arriving in Idaho, I’ve earned a Master’s in Public administration and worked for Boise State’s Energy Policy Institute. When not working on bikes, I spend most of my time with my wife, chasing our two-year old daughter while toting around our ten month-old daughter.
When heading to the BBP, I ride a re-made in the BBP Specialized Stumpjumper. On off days, I can be found toting the kids in a Madsen cargo bike while trying to keep up with my wife.

I ride a Trek. I love it!
I grew up in Boise, graduating from Boise High School many years ago! I love to travel and lived in the jungle of Indonesia for 5 years in the 70's. Mike and I live in the North End, biking and walking whenever we can! I also enjoy my children and grandchildren. I am retired after 35 years working in various positions at Central District Health Department. (Gives me more time to play!)

I ride a lot, commuting to work (some), touring, racing, mountain biking, tandem riding with my Dad, and zipping around for fun, but my favorite is pulling the trailer around with my best bud Barley in it.

I bike to work virtually every day, typically on my new-to-me Specialized Sirrus. For mountain biking, my 20-yr old Kona Explosif is still bomb proof.
I grew up in Georgia, where I biked every day to get around from pre-teen years well into my teens; you’d laugh if you ever saw my banana seat 5-speed dangerously overloaded with Sunday newspapers in the front basket from my delivery route, coupled with my carrying extra papers in a bag over each shoulder! Even though I wasn’t a great mechanic, I was better than others in my neighborhood, so I made some extra money fixing bikes for them. Now, my wonderful wife, Courtney, and I have two wonderful daughters and a fleet of bikes—so I’m really ecstatic to be involved both as a volunteer and board member at BBP. I love working at the shop, and what makes it especially enjoyable is our great staff.
