Boise Bicycle Project Facilitator

BBP’s Mission

The Boise Bicycle Project (BBP) is a nonprofit bicycle cooperative that promotes the personal, social, and environmental benefits of bicycling. It functions as a bicycle recycling center as well as an educational workspace in a diverse and non-threatening atmosphere. Through education and access to quality affordable bicycles, BBP strives to build a stronger bicycling community.

Position Summary

The Boise Bicycle Project seeks a part-time shop facilitator to help make bicycles, bicycle repair and bicycle education available to the entire community regardless of income.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Director of First and Final Impressions

  •  Greet each and every member and walk-in

  • Manage customer traffic and the shop wait list

  • Work with the shop manager and mechanics to control the shop flow for the day

  • Provide service writing for incoming customers in members or identify mechanics

    to do so

  • Answer phone calls

  • Accept and process donations; and provide donation receipts

Sales

  • Process sales through our point of sale system

  • Educate on products in our parts room

  • Educate about our memberships, sell and process memberships

Shop Record Keeping

  • Maintain a daily record of donations

  • Maintain a daily record of member shop use

Job Skills and Requirements:

  • You have a passion for teamwork, great communication skills, and an arsenal of interpersonal skills

  • You are passionate about great customer service

  • You thrive in busy, sometimes hectic, environments

  • You can prioritize and make decisions quickly

  • You enjoy working with people from all walks of life, all backgrounds, and all ability

    levels

  • You love bicycles and are passionate about bicycle transportation

  • You have a base-line knowledge of bikes and their components, and you are excited

    to learn more on the job

  • You’ve spent a significant time volunteering with nonprofits or working on

    community projects

  • You love systems and organization, but embrace evolution and flexibility

  • Previous customer service, retail or bike shop work experience is a great

    prerequisite for this role
