The Ada County Board of Commissioners are holding a public hearing on Tuesday, July 11th at 6:00PM at the Ada County Courthouse to consider passing a resolution for the use of $1,329,125 in forgone taxes to support costs associated with the Penitentiary Canal Greenbelt Project: https://adacounty.id.gov/Home/ArticleID/2100/Ada-County-to-Consider-Forgone-Taxes-Resolution
The proposed project involves piping the Penitentiary Canal and creating 1.65 miles of wider, safer, and smoother pathway for all users. This pathway segment is located between Shakespeare Way and Diversion Dam. If approved and adopted as part of the FY18 Ada County budget, construction on this project can begin in October. If you are a Greenbelt Pathway user we encourage you to attend and testify on this topic.
