Clicking, Ticking, Creaking, Squeaking? Time to Service Your Poor Bottom Bracket: Bottom Bracket Inspection, Overhaul, and Replacement and Crank Removal
(Recommended 1 time a year, or if you feel a tick of play in your cranks, grinding, or if you hear repetitive noise when pedaling out of the saddle)
Your pedals are attached to your crank and your crank is bolted onto your bottom bracket. The bearings in your bottom bracket are what allow you to pedal smoothly, and also take most of the downward force transferred from your body to your feet. This force is multiplied when climbing, sprinting, or rolling through rough terrain while off of the saddle. In short, these bearings are under a lot of pressure while doing a very important task. Sometimes this pressure leads to repetitive, mysterious, and malicious noises coming somewhere from down under. In this class you will learn how to remove your cranks and inspect, overhaul, or replace your bottom bracket. Everyone will leave with a quieter smoother pedaling bicycle.
