With over 320 bicycles donated to kids during BBP's 11th annual Christmas Kids Bike Giveaway, and 320 more kids who will take to the streets on their bicycle, we are thrilled to announce that Boise businesses are continuing to make Boise a better place to ride.
The League of American Bicyclists awarded two local Boise businesses with Bicycle Friendly Business status just before the start of the New Year. These businesses are making huge efforts to promote bicycling among their employees and patrons.
Dawson Taylor Coffee Roasters, Silver Bicycle Friendly Business
Our next door neighbors are doing more than just keeping BBP staff and volunteers well caffeinated. They raffle off BBP built bicycles - you can enter just by buying a cup of their delicious coffee! - hand out trail maps and bicycle safety brochures with information about the rules of the road and best riding practices. Dawson Taylor staff commute to work by bike as often as they can and they even built custom indoor bike parking so that the bike racks outside can be designated for customers. On being awarded as a Silver Level BFB, the Dawson Taylor Cofee Crew says:
"Dawson Taylor Coffee is so thrilled to have received the silver designation from the League of American Bicyclists’ Bicycle Friendly Business program! Employees biking/walking to work, cycling customers and supporting BBP is so important to us. Trying to make the world a better place, one coffee bean and bike at a time!"
Vitruvian Planning, Gold Bicycle Friendly Business
Vitruvian Planning takes Bicycle Friendliness to the next level because they are in the business of making urban areas more bike-able and walkable. In Boise - and across Idaho - they have contributed to assessing and designing Bicycle & Pedestrian Plans and Activity Connection Plans. They believe that by influencing the future of urban development, they can create an improved built environment that promotes physical activity, social interaction and emotional contentment promote healthier, happier, and more fulfilled lives. We're psyched that they're working to make biking and walking more accessible for the Treasure Valley and beyond!
Chris Danley, founder of Vitruvian on being awarded Gold Bicycle Friendly Business Status:
“It is an honor to be recognized by the League of American Bicyclists as a Bike Friendly Business. We fully support the League in all that they do for bicyclists of all ages and abilities, and are proud promote bicycling in any way we can-including riding to and from work.”
