Weekly Update: Pedal 4 The People, More Volunteer Opportunities, Member Perks and more!

Volunteer with BBP!

Last week, National Bike to Work Week, was a rootin’ tootin’ success and we’re looking to swing that momentum into some new, improved, and expanded volunteer opportunities in the weeks ahead. Click on any of the following links to sign up for a volunteer shift and contact hayden@boisebicycleproject.org for more information on getting involved at BBP! Some things to look forward to include:

Mobile Fix-It on May 24th at Davis Park Apartments from 3:30 to 6:30 pm

We need you to hit the streets and help Adam, our Youth Coordinator, bring bicycle self-sufficiency to kids throughout the City of Boise.

More Open Hours volunteer shifts! Wed through Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

We’ve finally dialed in the volunteer area in the new shop space, but one thing is missing...more enthusiastic volunteers! Stop on in and check out our primo new bench set-up, fresh wheel racks, and nifty tear-apart station. While you’re at it you can wrench on a kid’s bike or two, salvage some bike parts, help a walk-in customer, or process donations.

Alive After Five, Every Wednesday Evening in June

BBP has been selected as the feature nonprofit for Alive After Five’s Tips for Charity program during June. Our goal is to raise $5000 to benefit our volunteer programs. Help us help you by signing up for a shift and telling all your friends and family!

I look forward to seeing y’all in the shop or out and about at an event. Until then, happy trails!

Member Perks & Highlights

Upcoming Member Class: Friday, May 26th 6:30-8pm

Making Your Bike Stop On A Dime: Brake/Pad Inspection, Adjustment, Replacement (Bring Your Own Bike)

Every time you brake, a tiny bit of your brake pad wears away. Over time, the wearing of your pads cause them to hit the rim at an angle that is less than ideal, which can lead to inefficient braking and terrible noises.

In this class you will learn how to install and adjust your brake pads. Everyone will leave riding a bicycle with more stopping power!
